I have been immersed in art all my life. Ever since I could hold a crayon in my fist I have been drawing and creating.|
I have tried just about everything in art, but I really wasn't sure how long any of the various avenues of art would last. I started out cartooning, and have done various designing jobs, like designing and screen printing T-shirts, illustrating books and cards, etc. etc..
I have also worked in sculpture and air brush. It would be hard to find a medium that I haven't undertaken in order to find where I fit into the art world.
For the past 16 years I have painted murals professionally full time.
It was fun (still is), people were impressed with an ultra large painting on their walls
(still are), and it paid very well (still does).
Now that the economy has tanked, and there is little hope for much change while Obama is still in office, the average homeowner does not have the funds to support the cost of murals. A lot of people were using their home equity to finance these kinds of projects and now that is a thing of the past. However, work is still there, and it keeps picking up. As the jobs keep pouring in, it actually makes it harder to do what I really want to do, and that is fine art canvas paintings.
I am now putting more attention upon this desire to create fine-art paintings.
Every artist dreams of creating whatever they want and selling it to whomever they want for however much they want for it. That is exactly what I'm doing. Murals are still being painted, but I'm hitting the easel pretty hard these days.
